The Ukrainian Institute for Conservative Studies and Innovations organized a roundtable discussion in Lviv on “Conservatism. Geopolitics. Ukraine in the Global World: Challenges and Civilizational Guidelines”.
Myroslav Dnistrianskyi, Doctor of Geography, geopolitical scientist and professor at the Department of Geography of Ukraine at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv; Petro Ivanyshyn, Doctor of Philology, cultural studies, professor and head of the Department of Ukrainian Literature and Literary Theory at Ivan Franko State Pedagogical University; Vitaliy Khromets, Doctor of Philosophy, religious studies, associate professor, director of the Nestor Center, and others gathered at the table.
The event was moderatedby Mykhailo Shevchenko, Director of UICSI.
During the discussion, the intellectuals expressed interesting theses on Ukrainian geopolitics and the development of a national conservative movement that can really influence the state.
According to Ukrainian scientistMyroslav Dnistrianskyi, Doctor of Geography and Socio-Economic Sciences, the establishment of national conservatism in Ukraine could not only protect thenal conservatism in Ukraine could not only protect the ethno-cultural identity of Ukrainians and the independence of the state, but also mark the beginning of a renaissance of the entire European civilization.
“Today, there are very influential forces in the world that are carriers of imperialism, globalism, and pan-Islamism. They are trying to unify the ethno-cultural diversity of the world. At the same time, the national-state type of geopolitical consciousness retains its influence. It is based on national-conservative ideas,” noted Dnistriansky.
According to him, against the backdrop of the war, Ukraine’s politicians are particularly lacking in a national-state type of geopolitical consciousness.
