On December 11, the Conservative Hall hosted a unique discussion organized by the Ukrainian Institute for Conservative Studies and Innovations on Ukraine’s prospects for becoming a true republic. Participants discussed key challenges and opportunities in building statehood and civil society. The event brought together experts, scholars, representatives of the Ukrainian Conservative Youth, the Conservative Women’s League, and public figures. The guest speaker, Ruslan Rokhov, analyzed in detail the difficult path of transformation of our country from Soviet totalitarianism to independence. In the discussion, the participants touched upon key historical events that influenced the formation of Ukrainian identity. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of civil society development. According to Ruslan Rokhov, civic networks can become a powerful tool for political change. After all, the war has radically changed the entire political landscape of Ukraine, and we need tools to create new socio-political realities. The parties paid special attention to the issue of firearms legalization. The discussion around this issue provoked active participation of the audience, so it was important to discuss how this step could affect the concept of freedom, responsibility and security in the new Ukrainian state. The event became not only a platform for discussing critical issues, but also a starting point for new ideas. Participation in such events allows citizens to better understand their own role in state-building, to realize the challenges and opportunities for Ukraine in the post-war period. After all, civic consciousness and participation in state-building are the key to building a successful republic free from old totalitarian models. The Ukrainian Institute for Conservative Studies and Innovations sincerely thanks everyone who contributed to the organization of the event and showed interest in the topics discussed. Special thanks to the participants who contribute to building the future of Ukraine with their ideas and active position.
