The Ukrainian Institute for Conservative Research and Innovations (UCRI) has launched a Department of Geopolitics, which is actively engaged in research and analysis of global political processes and trends affecting international relations and security.
The department was headed by Volodymyr Nakonechnyi, an expert of the The Ukrainian Institute for Conservative Research and Innovations, international historian and public and political figure.
According to him, the Department of Geopolitics faces a number of challenges:
- Analysis of international conflicts and crises (study of the causes, development and possible consequences of international conflicts);
- Forecasting geopolitical trends (identifying and analyzing trends that may affect the global political situation in the future);
- Evaluation of the policies of states and international organizations (analysis of the foreign policy of individual countries and actions of international organizations);
- Developing recommendations (providing recommendations for government agencies, businesses, politicians (political parties) and NGOs on strategies for responding to geopolitical challenges);
- Monitoring of regional dynamics (tracking the political, economic and social situation in different regions of the world), etc.
These tasks are aimed at providing an understanding of complex international processes and helping to make informed decisions in the field of foreign policy and security. The department is a developer of high-quality Ukrainian analytics.
Mykhailo Shevchenko, Director of the UICDI, noted that the peculiarity of this department’s work is to restore and reboot the perceptions of Ukrainians and the world regarding the interpretation of many historical processes that were presented in their own way by imperial centers and foreign capitals (especially in relation to Ukraine). Ukraine has a significant potential to influence global processes by using its geopolitical, economic and cultural capabilities.
“We plan to draw the attention of the public and the international community to certain historical facts that were once distorted by the Muscovites. Further, we plan to give them new meanings and offer an alternative view of certain historical events that have become key in the history of the Ukrainian people. Ideally, the result of these actions should be the restoration of historical justice, at least in the system of views of Ukrainians and the whole world. Ukraine is a powerful player in the international arena, proving its subjectivity in geopolitics on the frontline every day, and defending the values of European civilization. These important aspects will be covered by our analysts,” emphasized Mykhailo Shevchenko.
