In the context of the ongoing discussion on the network, I would like to briefly express a few key points about the fate of globalization, long-term global trends, and promising development strategies, including for Ukraine.
In particular, as a person who has been dealing with these challenges for 30 years and has 15 years of experience in the Club of Rome and 5 years as a deputy. Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs and a member of the Parliamentary Assemblies of the Council of Europe and the OSCE.
My fundamental claim is that neoliberal globalization of 1990-2015. has obviously come to an end and has already turned in recent years into a long-term trend of political, economic and technological fragmentation of the world.
The coronavirus will only further manifest and record this. And no amount of modern technology will save this globalization.
The world will indeed be different for the foreseeable future – fragmented and even more competitive.
At least for a few decades – in fact, for the entire horizon of potential strategic planning for Ukraine to fight for our “place in the sun.”
The ambitious idea of some colleagues about the need for “strategic planning for 30-50 years ahead and medium-term planning for 5 and 10 years” is quite reasonable for mega-subjects of world history. But not for us.
For such individual civilizations as the United States and China, such “Napoleonic” plans may be possible. But not for Ukraine.
We need to soberly assess our place in history and on the geostrategic map of the world. And as soon as possible, rationally choose a realistic strategy to ensure a decent future for its people as a subject of history, as well as a partner, albeit a junior one, for the Leader of the global race for the foreseeable future.
It is critically important for Ukraine (as well as for Poland) to find itself in the right fragment – the American (Anglo-Saxon) technological, economic and political part of the world – and try to integrate its real innovation and production economy into this truly advanced fragment of global value creation.
For example, the preservation and future of our aerospace industry objectively requires the integration of Antonov as a global developer and manufacturer of a line of transporters in association with Boeing. And our Pivdenmash as a NASA contractor and a possible investment target for one of the American billionaire enthusiasts of human space expansion.
Similarly, the future of our IT industry is possible only through its deep and broadest possible integration into Silicon Valley and American developments in “artificial intelligence.”
The true Ukrainian intellectual and political elite, seeking to save its people at this crucial moment in history, has no choice but to rally around the vision of Ukraine and Eastern Europe as a wing of the Euro-Atlantic civilization with unequivocal Anglo-Saxon leadership and the United States as its guide.
We still have a chance to jump on the departing civilization train.
Moreover, to take off like a bird in a flock that will likely continue to lead humanity.
